Creatures are finding refuge in the towns now there’s not much of a living among the fields of oil seed rape.
A starling dropped an egg shell on me this morning. I was in the garden having coffee in the sun. Maybe it was a blessing – I am a member of the RSPB.

We live in Manchester but are fortunate to have a variety of trees and wildlife to watch out the window, silver birches, sycamores, copper beeches and many others, plus, foxes, at least one badger, grey squirrels and of course birds of all types, all showing the signs that Spring has finally arrived

Thanks, Viv. If I made that change it would bring a subtle shift of emphasis to a meditation experience – which is what this is. The poem is hardly thought through. I’ll keep my editorial urges off this one and let its freshness be.

This is lovely, Harry, the first for a while, I guess. Your words chimed with my own feelings at the moment. Only one thing I would change, mainly for reasons of grammar and precision: ” looked for.” – why not sought?

If you think London was cold, don’t come to Paris – I was never so cold in my life as on a visit a couple of years ago. We sat over a hot air vent in Notre Dame to warm up. Here we are threatened with a wind-chill temperature of -7 today.
