No vaping in the garden.

In Grosmont this morning, after cheesecake and coffee in a teashop by the heritage steam railway (Whitby to Pickering line) – ‘Thank you for not smoking or vaping in the teashop garden’, the sign outside said. I was considering the meaning of this and the fact that ‘tuna mayo’ was on the menu, when a venerable diesel engine chugged by, filling the garden with blue fumes. A few minutes later a mighty steam engine left the sidings and smothered the teashop garden in dense black smoke.

  1. How lucky you are! Not so much for the diesel fumes which are obtainable universally, but for the steam engine. I live in Crete where many still smoke inside Cafes and Tavernas (contrary to law) yet we have not a single railway line aqs compensation.

  3. Not so much Smoke gets in your eyes as Smoke and Steam get in everywhere Harry 😀
    So much for the No Smoking, etc, policy 😀
